SPRINGFIELD (WSIL) � The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has announced 2,724 new cases of COVID-19, including 108 additional deaths.
The largest 24-hour increase in cases to date comes as the state announces an increase in testing, with 16, 124 people tested for COVID-19 in a single day.
"Obviously, when you test more people, you are going to find more cases," said IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike.
Currently, a total of 39,658 cases, including 1,795 deaths, in 96 counties in Illinois.
The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.
