One Arrested, One Sought in Stolen Exotic Car Theft Investigation

Exotic Car Theft Investigation

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. -- Authorities arrested one person and are looking for another person who is suspected of theft and burglary in regards to an exotic car theft investigation.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office starting investigating some items and vehicles which they say were taken from a place in Graves County. These items include a 1951 Ford Red Belly Tractor, 1979 Ford 6600 Tractor, 1984 Chevrolet pickup, and a 1962 Ferrari 250GTE which the sheriff's office said is valued anywhere from $100,000 dollars and up towards to $780,000.

Deputies within the Graves County Sheriff's Office starting making calls to exotic car brokers across the nation, one of which was in New York.

One of the car dealer businesses deputies spoke with said they were contacted by two people out of Graves County about wanting to sell a car. The sheriff's office also said the dealer came down to Graves County and purchased a 1962 Ferrari 250GTE for $130,000, then it was later sold and delivered to another dealership in Texas.

The sheriff's office said two people were identified as suspects in this investigation; Teri Bush, 33, and Richard (Ricky) W. Cook, 45, both of Graves County.

On March 18, at around 4 p.m., deputies went to the 300-block of Ky Hwy 301 near Clear Springs in Graves County and arrested Bush, however, Cook was not at this location at this time.

Deputies searched the home there and found multiple guns and paperwork from the sale of the stolen vehicle, authorities stated.

Cook is a convicted felon who has convictions including, four counts of bail jumping, five convictions of receiving stolen property, credit card fraud and more.

  • Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree
  • Burglary 3rd Degree
  • Forgery 2nd Degree
  • Criminal Mischief 1st Degree
  • Criminal Trespass 1st Degree

Bush was taken to an out-of-county jail.

In a separate update, the sheriff's office said at around 9 p.m. on the night of March 18, two reported stolen tractors were recovered as part of this investigation. Sheriff Jon Hayden and Deputy Peyton Jackson said they found the reported stolen tractors near the Dublin area in Graves County.

The sheriff's office also urges anyone who has purchased any property from either Bush or Cook, to call the Graves County Sheriff's Office at 270-247-4501.
