CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Authorities investigated threats toward several southern Illinois schools on Sunday which came from a social media account.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said on June 23, their office responded to a threat to a school within Jackson County.聽
The Vienna School District's Superintendent also reported a threat toward their school as well on Sunday.
Authorities said these reported threats were made via Facebook posts toward several area schools and originated outside of the country.
Multiple law enforcement officials investigated and found the threat to be not credible, according to law enforcement and school officials.
An investigation is ongoing into where the original threat came from.
