50-year-old man dead after vehicle vs. pedestrian crash near Poplar Bluff

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Authorities are investigating a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash which resulted in a death near Poplar Bluff.

The incident happened Friday morning in front of Ozark Border Electric at 3281 S. Westwood Blvd. (Business 67) in the southern part of the city.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) said the crash involved a single vehicle and a pedestrian.

MSHP said the vehicle was driven by Lester Knox, 42 of Naylor, who was going north on Business 67, roughly one mile south of Poplar Bluff. The pedestrian's name is Cecil Thacker, 50 of Campbell, and was reported to be in the roadway when he was hit.

MSHP said Thacker was pronounced dead at the scene by the Butler County Coroner Jim Akers at 6:12 a.m.
