Two seriously injured after vehicle hits tree in southeast Missouri

BOLLINGER COUNTY, Mo. -- Two people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a car crashed into a tree on Sunday.

It happened along Highway 51 about five miles north of Marble Hill at around 4 p.m.

A 37-year-old female was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro south with a 24-year-old female passenger on board. The vehicle ran off the roadway and hit a tree.

Both women in the vehicle were taken to St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau with serious injuries.

The Camaro was severely damaged and was towed from the scene.
